‘As I Was, Not As I Am’

Director’s Statement

As I Was, Not As I Am is a beautiful piece of theatre about relationships, love, and loss. As a queer theatre artist I believe it is important to tell stories about queer people where queerness is not the focal point of the comedy or tragedy of the piece. It was important to me that my entire cast, design team, and crew was made up of queer individuals who could use their own lived experiences to influence the piece. This approach to design and acting created a colorful tapestry of ideas and experiences that show through in the intimate space of the Chapel Theater.
